The morbid and strange Mr. Miles (Magee) falls under suspicion when strange things happen in a small English town
A young couple has disappeared, and the girl’s mother alerts the police. Inspector Gorley (Warbeck) arrives to solve the case. Lucio Fulci has stated several times that Black Cat was directed as a favour to the producer: quickly and cheaply. It was a good favour. None of the carelessness of much of his 58later work is apparent. In every sense, the film is reminiscent of Fulci’s best work.
Photography and editing working marvellously together, and it may well be the most enjoyable film of Fulci's career.
